In 2007, Open Doors reported that student enrollments
from South America and the Caribbean remained
relatively flat in comparison to those in 2006,
while enrollments from Mexico and Central America
have increased slightly. In the Caribbean, the
Dominican Republic increased a healthy 10%, and
in Central America, Costa Rica, Honduras and El
Salvador all reported increases in enrollments.
In South America, Ecuador and Peru continue to
report increases and enrollments in Brazil have
increased after several years of declining enrollments.
Since the destination of choice for students traveling
abroad is still the U.S., Latin America presents
vibrant and significant recruiting opportunities
for US universities. Moreover students from the
region bring vitality to our classrooms and help
provide the diversity that universities are seeking
for their campuses.
The three-week tour provides options in the Caribbean,
Central America and South America with
the tour ending in the southern cone city of Buenos
Aires, Argentina. We have added a stop in Santa
Cruz, Bolivia for the first time.
